Back Sleeve Text:

\"The root of the problem is always the same\", so is the root of of the music of John Lee Hooker. After fifty years of life for him, life hasn't changed very much. Even after his migration from the south to escape no-work, no-play, hardship for a man like himself, Hooker encountered in the North the same conditions only camouflaged. The only good thing that he found was home people who wanted to hear his music. The one and only source to keep him to play the blues.

His music was always as it had been, a hand-me-down that needs no shame only glory, from his his father who got it from his grandfather, with such a rudimentary education it had to be a whole self involvment, which is the best point of any music.

Whatever the name John Lee Hooker means for you, whether it be down Home blues, soul stirring stomp or up to date rhythm and blues, you will find it all in this album.
