The album wasn't released in the USA, though some tracks later appeared on the US release of Rea's following album \"Espresso Logic\".

--It's a song specifically written for a movie.
Halfway through the album I had occasion to see Channel 4, they have an Arts, Entertainment, Media section on their breakfast show, and I saw these guys struggling with a lower budget and I heard the idea of the movie, and I saw what they were trying to do, and was very impressed. It seemed very real, very real life and it appealed to me. It was movie making like I try to make music - it was for the sake of its own art.
So I went down immediately, that morning, and knocked on their door and said, I want to do the music for the film.
They were very, very surprised, in fact, it took them a while to actually say yes. They first thought I was mad.
I succeeded in convincing them that I could do it and they said OK.
So we were in Provence making the record and then half way through the album we did the film music, all the incidental music and then we went back to the album. And the movie is called Soft Top Hard Shoulder. -- Chris Rea--.
Soft Top Hard Shoulder is a 1992 British comedy-drama film directed by Stefan Schwartz, produced by Richard Holmes and starring Peter Capaldi, Frances Barber, Jeremy Northam and Richard Wilson.
Gavin Bellini is a Glaswegian artist who left Glasgow for London some 8 years previously, has since neglected to stay in touch with his family in Glasgow, his family were ice cream makers who had a factory in Glasgow and have recently sold it as Gavin's father is in poor health, by chance he meets his Uncle Salvatore in a London Italian restaurant who sits him down to talk to him about his absence, and gives him the ultimatum that he be in Glasgow in 2 days time at 7pm sharp for his Father's 60th birthday party, if he fails to show up, he gets cut out of his Father's will.
This then leaves him the problem of how to get to Glasgow as he is broke,apart from the £30 that his Uncle Salvatore gives him, he then remembers he has a 1971 Triumph Herald given to him by a Country & Western group for doing the graphics for their album.
The story then follows him on his journey from London to Glasgow with lots of comedy, mishaps and an attractive hitchhiker with a story to tell along the way. Winner of Scottish BAFTA for Best Film and Best Actor Peter Capaldi.
This film has a lot of familiar British scenes in it.
