From the movie: KNUTE ROCKNE ALL AMERICAN 1940
This movie would have us believe that famed Notre Dame football coach Knute Rockne got the idea for the highly successful \"Notre Dame Box'\" backfield formation by watching a group of chorus girls in a Chicago theater. Not true but it makes for a good story and it's a very good chorus number. Incidentally the \"Notre Dame Box\" along with the \"Single Wing\" were the dominant backfield formations for high school and college football teams for many years. It was also used with great success by Curly Lambeau's Green Bay Packers in the NFL winning six NFL championships between 1929 and 1944.
