Here's my tenor saxophone and guitar cover of Light of Silence from Chrono Trigger featuring RichaadEB! I'm Sab and I love jazz and video games, so now I make covers that combine two of my favorite things!
This track was a lot of fun to do with RichaadEB! I love all the layers and little parts that come in and out of the piece. All the voices enter subtly in the sustained sections and really adds to the creepiness of the area when you first here this song in game.
My strongest association with this song is the first time you hear it after going deeper into the Manoria Cathedral. It's your first time being in 600 AD around monsters and these voices are surrounding you and you don't know where they come from.
For the arrangement, I wanted to reflect that eerie atmosphere, but also make it a bit different from what I normally do. Similar to Magus's theme, I tried to do something that wasn't just jazz. I wouldn't call this metal, but it contains some style characteristics of metal. (Being completely general because I'm not super knowledgeable in metal and don't assume it's all the same. There are so many subgenres within metal, which is freaking awesome!)
I really like the blend of guitar and saxophone in this cover. The guitar tone was the right texture to add to this and I'm super glad Rich was able to join me on this track!
Hope you enjoy this sax guitar cover of Light of Silence from Chrono Trigger!
