Errol Stubbs - Spaced Out On Your Love

“I had given up on that song,” Alabama’s Errol Stubbs said of his cosmic soul ballad “Spaced Out On Your Love.” Issued on Birmingham’s E & R (the R being for co-producer and drummer Robert Hunter) in 1986, the single was intended to be the first volley from an unissued LP titled Turning It Out.

The track is a heavenly slice of shredding, mind-altering modern soul, with Stubbs grinding his Peavy T 40 + Boss Phaser directly into the console for maximum effect. Unearthed here for the first time is the extended album version of “Spaced Out On Your Love,” cut from the last remaining cassette copy dubbed that fateful day at Don Mosely’s Sound Of Birmingham studio.
