The album based on a poem writen in 1782 by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe called \"Erlkönig\" (\"Forest King\", \"Elvenking\" or \"King of Alder\").

It depicts the death of a child assailed by a supernatural being, the Erlkönig

(it is unknown if a child was killed by the spirit or was just sick and delirious).

In the Danish and German folklore the figure of Erlkönig is associated with death. Supposedly, this creature comes to dying people.



The original poem in German consists of 8 stanzas, which are used in tracks in following way:

the 1st track - 3 stanzas, the 2nd - 3 stanzas and the 3rd one - 2 stanzas. Also, the album is completed with three dark ambient compositions.
