Demented and noisy garage funk rockers from Los Angeles. I first saw / heard of The Amazements when my band opened for them at an art gallery in 2007 / 2008? Alan Myers, drummer for Devo, also played that night in an experimental noise group. Can’t remember their name. After several hours of “artists” and avant-garde shit, a seemingly normal rock band appeared on stage to close out the show. Three longhairs with bad mustaches stood there stoned, waiting for the lights to dim and DJ to stop. What followed was a glorious depiction of what would become their album STICKY RUBIES: the perfect blend of lo-fi garage, James Brown's swagger and the Magic Band's freakishness - all filtered through a Butthole Surfers heap of noise FX and psychedelic meltdowns. Lysergic rock n' roll maniacs (check out their drawings). Released in 2009 on Peter’s Pool Boys, a hand-numbered edition of 125 CD’s. This deserved a vinyl pressing (still does) and would've fit in perfectly with In The Red or Load Records.
