Psychedelic is based on three references: the Ligeti Chamber Concerto with its hypnotic and psychedelic features; the Pink Floyd song On the Run from the album Dark side of the moon, a kind of continuum built with a Synthi AKS synthesizer including many changes of timbre on a phrase that is repeated infinitely; and finally, an hypnotic painting of Victor Vasarely made of geometric bodies that create optical illusions, a dynamic colorful frame where there is no figure and no background.
I find that there are strong links between the song of Pink Floyd and the first and last movement of the Chamber Concerto of Ligeti. Probably, in a period where connections between written contemporary music and rock bands were more intense Pink Floyd had listened to the continuous and psychedelic features of the Ligeti Chamber Concerto (1970). And later consciously or not, maybe they transform them and bring them into the Synthi AKS of On the Run (1974).
