Toy guns, swords banned from Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas

The Las Vegas, Nevada City Council voted Wednesday to ban toy and replica guns from the Fremont Street pedestrian mall in downtown Las Vegas.

Council members voted at their regular meeting in favor of a bill that prohibits having replica firearms, along with certain other weapons.

The affected area is bounded by Main Street and 7th streets and Carson and Ogden avenues.

In addition to replica guns, the bill bans swords, flamethrowers, knives longer than 3 inches and bows and arrows.

A violation could be punishable by up to six months in prison or a $1,000 fine.
