Rophnan, a pioneer of a generation which represents the future of Ethiopia has released the first all Electronic full length album in Ethiopia.
Rophnan has captured Ethiopian languages, instrumentations and rhythm patterns, deep-rooted in raw traditional music and tells their story through the futuristic language of electronic music.
In “REFLECTION” Rophnan touches the fundamental rhythms and scales of Ethiopia such as Guragigna, Afan Oromo, Gammo, and the famous Chikchika, immersed in pure electronic sound.
Hence, the album title, REFLECTION, a reflection of electronic music from Ethiopia to Ethiopians and to the world.
The album, which was mastered at the legendary The Exchange Studios in London, has 15 songs, packed with energy and flavours, “Bay Bay” is a powerful EDM Anthem with enigmatic lyrics, “Mad Shepard\" a dark Dubstep track with Kemise soul, “Cherekan” where ROPHNAN uses Classic House to tell the story of a Hamer tribal girl and of course famous “Get To Work” track.
Lyrics-wise, the album is written very carefully, wide and versatile but still remains faithful to the positive and conscious approach which went along with Rophnan’s career since day
