Hey guys! It's time for an amazing piece of retro VGM that happens to be some of the most shred-friendly material out there!

I remember playing this game at a video game bar as my first experience with it and it was honestly such a fun time! For being such an old school game that's not one of the giants, it's still pretty darn fun to play.

This versus theme though is so iconic in retro vgm. The time period around this game had some pieces of VGM that were clearly designed to be played on shred guitar but the 8 / 16 bit restrictions weren't about that I guess. But let's fast forward to the 21st century and here we are shredding it up!

I wanted to keep these melodies as true to the original as possible because honestly I wanted to prove to even myself that I could play these insaaane licks. It's so shreddy and quick that some of these ones I wasn't really sure I could pull off. After an insanely long and sweaty recording session, I'm insanely proud of what I laid down for this!

So with being true to the melodies for the most part, I felt that I really had to spice up the rhythm section so I can make this theme my own. I was really stoked on the idea of going into a breakdown later in the song to give it more of a melodic death metal feel and it turned out so awesomely!

I hope you guys enjoy this metal as heck cover as much as I enjoyed making it! Thanks so much DTx for the request and thank you guys for watching!
