Obscure Australian christian folk from an album \"Salt in Concert' by a group of young musicians called the SALT movement. This album was released in 1974 on the private Sydney-based 'Art' label. The group intended to make ‘sincere, melodic, soulful’ music ‘communicated in the modern idiom’ rather than ‘jangly bubble-gum music designed to whip up your emotions and leave you empty’. The music on the album is youthful Christian acoustic folk with alternating male and female vocalists played by folk duos, solo acts and three-piece groups from the SALT collective. Some of the tracks are dark, introspective and minor-keyed hymns, others are in a simple SSW-contemporary folk vein, and a few have a Peter, Paul & Mary folk-pop vibe. Most of the songs consist of just acoustic guitar and vocals, with the very sporadic inclusion of piano, electric guitar, vibes, acoustic and electric bass, and organ played by backing musicians. Fans of female-led folk albums will undoubtedly find several songs of interest on the album.
