Today a historical monument, Peleş Castle (Romanian: Castelul Peleş [kastelul peleʃ]) is a Neo-Renaissance masterpiece placed in an idyllic setting in the Carpathian Mountains, near Sinaia, (120 km from Bucharest) in Prahova County, Romania, on an existing medieval route linking Transylvania and Wallachia.
It was built between 1873 and 1914, its inauguration was held in 1883 and it was the resting place for several Romanian monarchs.
Peleş Castle is considered by many one of the most beautiful castles in all Europe.
