Words of the author:
There is a place, a place that only exists in the darkest hour of the night, where monsters and nightmares gather... and dance. They dance at the pulsing tempo of deep synths, harsh guitars and aggressive bass lines, all bathed in a blinding, fluorescent neon lights. They call this place, 'Neon Borealis' a surreal Night Club where your deepest, darkest desires and fears exists and everything is possible. They say you can only access to this place through an invitation, a Tape, that shows you the exact place and hour, but as that bizarre Night Club, that is all just an urban myth.... Except for the girl that got the Tape, that Night of 1988...
After my previous work ‘I, emotion’, my most personal album to this moment and having drained my guts out into that album, I was left with a strange sense of relief. Time passed and wanting to write a new album I found out that I had nothing to say, at least, not in the same way as my previous album 'I, emotion' did. And for some time I struggled with finding an idea or a sound that I haven't heard or experimented with before. Then it was during a friend’s reunion that something clicked in my head. I’ve always loved electronic music and synths, most recently the rise of synthwave music and I also love metal music so, why I don't try and mix Synthwave and 80's style of music with black metal elements? It was a crazy idea! But needless to say that a few days later I was burning through my keyboard, guitars and drums and blending them with hard, punchy and aggressive synth sounds. What I got was something that, to me at least, was more that I've imagined. I still think it’s a crazy idea, but I really loved the result.
Inspired by slasher and monsters films from the 80's, I wanted to come back to my storytelling roots, so I try to develop the album as a bizarre 80's horror film soundtrack with fast guitar melodies and aggressive drums. I hope you enjoy this new experiment of mine as much as I did writing it, and let me tell you, I didn’t had this much fun writing an album before.
