Here we go, the penultimate track from 'History Will Eat Itself' and yet another epic and long progressive arrangement, this is 'The Tower'. One of the songs from the original soundtrack that gets overlooked a lot by the more popular tracks, I felt I had to give ode to this great composition by Keiichi Okabe that perfectly suits the last areas of Nier Automata. Big shout out to my boi Charlie Pitcher who performed a wonderful solo on this track!

The second arrangement on my album that was written for the baritone guitar, I again borrowed my mate's 5-string bass to complement the lower register. The original track has a bed of synths as the main body of the song so I wanted to emulate that which was achieved using Massive by Native Instruments. I also wanted to properly build towards a destructive climax and gradually introduce more instruments just as you would expect from not only any progressive genre but akin to the likes of post-rock which explains the length of this arrangement. A lot of delay utalised on the clean guitars to facilitate a lonely and melancholic mood to the piece. The amazing solo performed by Charlie Pitcher, I had sent him sax solos that I wanted to emulate for that middle section. The two references I sent him were the Dick Parry second solo on 'Us and Them' by Pink Floyd and the Mel Collins solo on the live version of '21st Century Schizoid Man' from the album 'Radical Action to Unseat the Hold of Monkey Mind'.
