It's been a minute since I've jammed a Pokemon track so this was a huge pleasure to put together. Add alongside that the fact that it's from arguably the most metal Pokemon ost there is, GSC!
First of all, I'm sure you guys are wondering whats up with the new guitar. Well I JUST GOT IT!!!! It's a USA Made ESP M-II made to my exact specs and it's an absolute beauty / shred machine! I'm so happy to finally have a guitar that's built exactly how I want and also looks super sick. You can expect to see that on my future covers!
This theme was a blast to work on because it has a lot of signature Pokemon battle theme parts that I have done a few times on other Pokemon covers. What makes that repetition across themes so cool for me is that it makes me feel like I've improved a lot since doing the older Pokemon battle themes when comparing how I handle these similar types of battle riffs.
Rhythm guitar wise, I remained pretty true to the original piece as I do with a lot of old school Pokemon stuff. I feel as if if I scrapped or heavily changed any of the parts, that it would take away from the brutality and intensity of the original and I felt that I couldn't and didn't want to deviate that far. The rhythms chips of the original translate so well to metal guitars and it was so fun to learn these shreddy riffs!
The leads like most Pokemon songs are absolutely insane! I also attempted to throw in some even more shreddy parts in there just so I could add my own flavor to this track. It was quite a crazy recording session with this one but in my opinion, it was totally worth it and it turned out awesome!
I hope you guys enjoy this track as much as I enjoyed making it!
The original \"Vs. Legendary Beast\" theme from the game \"Pokemon Gold / Silver / Crystal\" was composed by Junichi Masuda, Go Ichinose and Morikazu Aoki
