A mystery group of English expat's that moved to Perth, bore the same name as the U.K band that featured Ronnie Wood pre Faces and Rolling Stones, making it even more intriguing they covered some of the Birds tunes.
Many stories have circulated as to how they came to be. The real sccop is Terry Clarke was the original singer / guitarist in The Herd, his depature brought Peter Frampton to The Herd. At this point he joined up with Brian Curtis, The Herd's drummer, Mick Underwood and Harvey Hinsley (later to be in Hot Chocolate) to form Clockwork Orange. A couple of name changes (The Dove, World War III) and the band came to a hault.
Terry emigrated to Australia followed by Brian a year later, they hooked up with Perth resident John Goldsmith and became The Birds (yes, they were aware of the Ronnie Wood band, but that band was now long defunct). The confusion arose when their manager and promoters insisted on using \"Direct from the U.K\" as a buy line in advertising the band. They were never roadies to the U.K Birds, or members, or deliberately jacked the name to pass themselves off as the U.K Birds!
