WRITING ON THE WALL Power Of The Picts (Full Album) RARE 1969 UK LP `Middle Earth` Heavy Psych 1200

Playing Next: The Charade (1969 full album)

Very obscure sole LP release by 60`s Psych band `Writing On The Wall` called Power of the Picts, released in 1969 on the obscure `Middle Earth` label (MDLS 303) it came in a single `Textured` sleeve. Middle earth were based around the London club of the same name and issued very few releases (Arcadium, The Wooden O etc) distributed by Pye they seem to have had very little promotion making their original releases very hard to find. A copy of this album sold in 2017 for ?1262 however most decent copies usually fetch around ?300-?400.

Writing on the Wall were a Scottish rock band of the late 1960s and early 1970s who became a popular live act in the United Kingdom. The group originally formed as the Jury, changing their name to Writing on the Wall in early 1968. The band's manager, Brian Waldman, moved the group to London and let the band perform at his club, the Middle Earth. That same year, the band recorded a BBC radio session for disc jockey John Peel and made a live demo album as well. They eventually recorded their lone album, The Power of the Picts, for Waldman's Middle Earth label. In 1971 the band did another session for John Peel and made an LP in Scotland that was never released then went through several line-up changes. The group but gave up in 1973 when their equipment was stolen.
