They Were Doin’ The Mambo (Raye) by Vaughn Monroe, with studio orchestra
The mambo dance craze was really taking off in late 1954 and helped provide Monroe with his final national top-ten record. It was composed by prolific 1940s hit-maker Don Raye (Beat Me Daddy, I’ll Remember April, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Star Eyes, House Of Blue Lights, etc.) and was backed on the single release by the first recorded version of “Mister Sandman” (also posted to this channel).
