These videos are designed for guitar beginners or those with only limited guitar knowledge. They use simple chord shapes as much as possible and do not necessarily represent the way in which the song was originally played. They are designed as practice tools to supplement your other learning methods. Information is provided on screen for both right and left-handed players!
Fake Plastic Trees is not the easiest song for a beginner to play due to the chord shapes moving very smoothly and quickly into each other. Also, very few \"standard\" chords appear in the song. Fortunately all of the chords are open shapes and nothing is too complicated to form, even though they may be unfamiliar to you. As far as I know these are the actual chords used in the original recording.
Notice that I'm often playing the A major chord using my 2nd, 3rd and 4th fingers. This is to help with the transitions to other chords.
The song relies a lot on dynamics; it flows between quiet sections and louder sections very freely and a lot of the impact comes from the variation. Don't be afraid to pull your strumming strength right back and be very quiet, then really whack away during the louder parts!
