Random Page  /  Random Album

Label: Brain

Country: Germany

Released: 1973

Genre: Rock

Style: Prog Rock, Heavy Psych, Psychedelic Rock

Lava emerged during the undrground scene of Berlin in the early 70's. Formed by the excellent keyboardist Thomas Karrenbach the band has a sound more differentiated from the other Germans, very light passages of guitar, piano and flute create a contagious melodic atmosphere.

Highlight for the tracks Mad Dog and Piece of Piece, this last one the most beautiful of the disc, instrumental where one notices the clear intermixing between its members.

They released only that disc in 1973 and after the death of the own Thomas Karrenbach in 1974 the band dissolved and it is not known if the other members created parallel projects.

An interesting curiosity about this record is that legendary producer and German sound engineer Conny Plank (1940 - 1987) was responsible for the production of it. Plank was known for producing excellent bands like Guru Guru, Kraan, Cluster, Kluster, Kraftwerk, Liliental among others.

This is a very interesting album and a little different from what we already heard in terms of German prog.
