Sing To Me - REO Speedwagon (1978) FLAC Remaster 1080p

Random Page  /  Random Song

\"Sing To Me\" was released in the late-winter of 1978 on REO Speedwagon's seventh studio album, You Can Tuna Piano, But You Can't Tuna Fish. REO's double live album, Live: You Get What You Play For was a huge favorite for some of my friends and I and we had been playing it constantly the previous summer. I had become a huge fan of this band and was happy to see those first full page notices announcing the new record appear in Circus, Cream, and Rolling Stone....couldn't wait to hear some more of their unique, good time, piano AND guitar driven rock n roll!

You Can Tune A Piano But You Can't Tuna Fish didn't let me down and I remember it being one of a group of records (also including Blondie's Parallel Lines, David Gilmour's debut, Elvis Costello's This Year's Model, Genesis's ...And Then There Were Three, Jethro Tull's Heavy Horses, Joe Walsh's But Seriously Folks, Peter Tosh's Bush Doctor, Bruce Springsteen's Darkness on the Edge of Town, Warren Zevon's Excitable Boy, The Moody Blues' Octave, Yes's Tormato, The Cars' debut, Steve Forbert's Alive On Arrival, Talking Heads More Songs About Buildings and Food, Southside Johnny's Hearts Of Stone, Wishbone Ash's No Smoke Without Fire & Jefferson Starship's Earth...plus many others of course that I loved, but thinking back these were the ones that spent the most time in heavy rotation!) that, one of which was very likely guaranteed to be on my turntable for the better part of the year....wow, looking back over the records released that year is such a revelation.....so many amazing great and beautiful records!

This is my 2nd video for an REO Speedwagon tune (the other being \"Blazin' Your Own Trail Again\") and I had been wanting to work up another video from You Can Tune A Piano But You Can't Tuna Fish and had always figured that Sing To Me would be next since I really knew what I wanted to try for it...had collected some of the images I planned to use many months ago, and when I was working on my last video (for Al Stewart's \"Merlin's Time\") I realized that with a little work I could morph it into something for \"Sing To Me\"....so a few days later I gave it a shot and this is the end result.

I was finding some really interesting sequences with additional imagery, but as with the last video, the short length of this song didn't allow time to use much of the things I was finding....so I've chopped it down and saved quite a lot of other things to use with another North American Indian focus.....most likely Kansas's \"Cheyenne Autum\" (the song I have been planning after finishing my 2nd Kansas video for \"Nobody's Home\")....this song is much bigger and should be fun to try and fill....we'll see?!

Anyway, until the next one.....really hope you enjoy this one.....a great, great, if not so well known, song from REO Speedwagon! It's so nice to know that sometimes one of the videos opens the song up and brings it home to someone, even one who's heard it many times before!

[Lyrics]
Sundown, summer is fading.
Run now, here the winter comes.
Deep down, in some snowdrift.
Frozen fire, thought you found the lift.

It's a showdown, it's a Mexican standoff.
And the river, is the prize.
To float away on her current,
To the sea lover, to the sea.

And I know there's a song in the wind to the sky.
And I know there's a song somewhere for you and I.
What I don't know is if we'll hear it.
I'm losin' spirit, woman sing to me.
