'I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen' was the very first recording by the legendary Irish country star Brian Coll and his band The Plattermen in 1965. Although recognized as a very popular traditional Irish ballad the song was in fact written in 1875 by Thomas Paine Westendorf, an American of German descent.The song captures the thoughts of home shared by so many Irish immigrants.
