\"Here’s “Volvo,” an unironic Russian vocal avant-trance anthem from established producer Moa Pillar and up-and-coming vocalist and producer Ушко.
For the last few years, various trance mutations have flooded the experimental dance scene but this duo stresses that they have found the inspiration in the cringiest and purest form of the genre. Despite the artists’ backgrounds, “Volvo” is more about beachfront open-air vibes rather than “music for art students”. But not to worry, if the original seems too trance, the VIP mix on the flip side manages to deliver the same effect but without the drums.
Ушко has recently been turning heads in Moscow’s forward-thinking indie scene with her record “Silver Hits.” However, for this collaboration, she brought her fearless production style to Moa Pillar in a minimal form: a synth lead from which the song took off. But her unorthodox vocal delivery and lyrics, as well as mad charisma, are present in abundance. Moa Pillar has added his staple: weird and menacing big-room production, that has those crispy sensibilities, yet is strange as hell.
“Kiss her in front of everyone,” croons Ushko before dropping multiple firearm mentions. Apparently, “her” is an old shotgun that the protagonist of the song uses for a (pretty bloody) act of revenge, Kill Bill-style.\"
