Al igual que los Hermanos Santa Cruz y Caitro Soto de la Colina, PEPE VÁSQUEZ también representa una parte importante del repertorio de la música negra en el Perú.
Hijo y nieto de ilustres artistas de tradición, PEPE VÁSQUEZ ha forjado su carrera artística innovando y modernizando la propuesta musical de sus raíces, sin olvidar el contexto y sin desvirtuar sus orígenes.
Más aún, su versatilidad le permite interpretar valses típicamente costeños, pero con el aporte de su negritud, incorporando melancolía y romanticismo al más puro estilo negroide, tal y como lo demuestra en el vals “Sincera Confesión”.
Sin embargo, es con el repertorio de música negra, donde alcanza esa majestuosa tesitura vocal luciendo su portentosa voz y dejándonos apreciar sus interpretaciones únicas, como son los casos de: “Jipi Jay”, “No Valentín”, “El Alacrán”.

Son and grandson of distinguished artists of tradition, PEPE VASQUEZ has built his career innovating and modernizing the musical of his roots, without forgetting the context and without distorting his origins.
Moreover, his versatility allows him to sing typical coastal waltzes but with the wonderful contribution of his blackness, adding melancholy and romance to the negroide style of, as evidenced in the waltz “Sincera Confesión” (“Sincere Confession.”)
However, with the black music repertoire he reaches the majestic vocal range showing his powerful voice and allowing us to appreciate his unique interpretations, as in the case of “Jipi Jay”, “No Valentin”, “El Alacrán” (“The Scorpion.”)
