I decided that for Saint Patrick's Day, I would record a cover of an Afro Celt Sound System song. It'd be cool, it'd be Irish, it'd be fun — or so I thought. It would actually prove to be my near undoing.
I seriously underestimated the difficulty of covering an Afro Celt song. (Notice that I'm uploading this a day late). In the end, it took me several hours, a little bit of electronic cheating, and 17 tracks.
The drum part that continues throughout the song is actually the first two measures of the real recording, which I cut out and looped. I don't have any hand drums to record with: gimme a break! For what it's worth, I DID add some drumming electronically to emphasize the major hits.
Apart from that, everything else is something I created from scratch. The whistles and Uilleann pipes are live recordings, and everything else is electronic. I must ashamedly admit that I used an automatic tuning enhancer for the pipes (I only just started learning the things!).
So there. Enjoy. Comment. Be grammatically correct.
