Majestic Dance Orch. 1930 Thank Your Father

Playing Next: Johnny Cash - Ballad of a Teenage Queen
Random Page  /  Random Song

In it's day, a hit Broadway show song from the 1930 George White musical comedy, \"Flying High\". It starred Bert Lahr, known best as the cowardly lion in the Wizard of Oz, and Kate Smith, whom critics found \"Mountainous\". She sang the lively number, \"Red Hot Chicago\".
Walter Winchel dubbed the show '\"The Lindberg of Musical Comedies\". And Bert clowned as a drunk long distance pilot who beat the longest distance records because he had no clue how to land the plane!
This record is accompanied with a silent film from the 1920s that suits the lyrics very well!
This is it! The one with the daring prohibition era line,\"Thank your dad for being just a bit tight!\", in place of, \" thank your dad and mom for feeling just right!!\" (As heard on the Helen Kane version).
My thanks to my friend roybo1930 for his audio upgrade and use of his Royola record label. Enjoy the nostalgia, and this great record!
The Majestic Dance Orch. plays this song on the purple label Dominoe #4531
