Eurynome - Obsequies (Full Album) Eurynome is a Funeral Doom Metal duo born in Milan, with atmospheric/symphonic influences. The band uses distorted basses instead of guitars, as well as many other lines such as synths, orchestrations and piano. The voice finds expression through the classic growl, female singing sessions and some spoken. Formed in mid-2018, the aim was creating a Funeral Doom project with particular sonarities using only electric basses. All compositions, instruments and orchestrations were in fact set and recorded at 436 Hz, to give the sound a decadent and more melancholy trend. This expedient was inspired by instruments tuning in the 1800s, when most of the time they were tuned to that frequency for mechanical reasons.
Currently the duo consider itself a purely studio project, debuting with the first LP of 50 minutes and 7 tracks, developed and recorded not without difficulty and long timescales between the end of 2019 and summer 2020. However, all the time necessary was purposely taken to develop a suggestive and personal sound, which would make the style immediately recognizable in the Doom scene. A lot of attention and care were also given to the artworks, the physical versions and the design/packaging of the same.
To celebrate the birth of the duo, an ultra-limited edition of the album has been released, handcrafted by the artists. It's a coffin-shaped box made entirely of wood and metal, with a varied extra content. Lyrical themes are linked to cemetery scenarios, desolation, decadence and solitude. The band likes to admire the solemnity and decadence of monumental, ancient or even abandoned cemeteries, which still inspire it in making the songs and music videos.
