The album is inspired by H.P. Lovecraft stories and each song tells a story of a different Lovecraftian deity. The only exception is the song titled Defective Mind Transfer, based on Lovecraft's short novel From beyond. Below you can find a little bit of context for each song.
Shining sphere: Intro to the album inspired by the vibrations of the shining sphere JUK-SHABB.
Esoteric order: The song tells the dramatic story of a woman that accidentally enters a church where the DAGON sect is conducting a ritual. The included sample is taken from the American-Spanish film Dagon (2001).
For Elizard: This piece is sung from the perspective of YIG. It's a humorous song about Yig's jealousy and grudge towards Godzilla. The sample that we used is a fragment from an American news program from the time the movie Godzilla (1998) was released.
Defective Mind Transfer: Instrumental song based on the short novel titled From beyond. The included sample comes from the film From beyond (1986) based on the same story.
Black Pharaoh II: This song is inspired by NYARLATHOTEP, the black pharaoh. At the beginning you can hear the recitation of the poem Nyarlathotep from Lovecraft's poetry collection Fungi from Yuggoth by William Hart, a well-known Lovecraft enthusiast. Although the instrumentals are based on Black Sabbath's doom, the vocals remind Type O Negative's singing style.
Trip: The song tells the story of a man having a bad LSD trip that sends him to the AZATHOTH domain. It is a three-part composition, one for each step of the trip. In the third part you can hear a sample taken from a cautionary documentary about the effects of LSD made by the USA government in the 1950s.
Galeón de Manila: Flamenco infused piece sung in Spanish. It tells the story of a 17th century Spanish galleon traveling from Acapulco to Manila. The captain of the ship is slowly going insane due to the terrible nightmares induced by CTHULHU and leads the galleon to R'lyeh, where Cthulhu rests. The growled and blackened parts of the song represent the madness of the captain. When the captain realizes that he killed his whole crew and he is about to sink the galleon with no control of his body, he starts to pray. A long synth noise after the prayer represents the ship sinking down to the R'lyeh.
