Recorded on November 19, 1928 with vocals by Irving Kaufman. There was a time when no one would have mistaken mistaken bandleader Ernie Golden for a so-called \"golden\" childrens' book featuring Ernie, a Muppet. That was way, way back before the internet, the Roaring Twenties, when Golden and his various orchestras recorded some of the first records to be added to home collections, back when there actually wasn't such a thing as home record collections yet.
These collections did indeed amass courtesy efforts from outfits such as Edison Diamond Discs, one of a host of backers for Ernie Golden and His Hotel McAlpin Orchestra or Ernie Golden and the Pheasant Orchestra.
Pheasant or just pleasant, Golden composed and performed in a variety of styles. He dabbled on Broadway, writing the music for the show Artists and Models in 1930. While his orchestras recorded hits of the era such as \"I'm Dancing With Tears In My Eyes\", \"I Ain't Got Nobody\" and \"Oriental Moonlight\", the material that really gilded Golden's memory are pieces such as \"Toy Makers Dream\", novelty material that has found its way onto the set lists at orchestral Christmas pageants as well as concert bands. ~ Eugene Chadbourne, Rovi
