From an age when the girl friend was also known as a host of affectionate names, such as \"sweetie\", \"cutie\", \"honey bunch\" and \"tootsie\" (remember \"toot, toot tootsie\"?)
Syd Roy (pictured at the piano) , was the elder brother of Harry Roy (2nd right) and eventually became his manager. Syd's records are generally difficult to find, with the exception of most of his later issues on Eclipse.
Here masquerading as \"Coliseum Dance Orchestra\", this was issued on Aco under his own name and a selection of Vocalion's \"B\" labels of which Coliseum and Guardsman serve as examples, under various psedonyms.
It makes a pleasant change to hear Eddie Collis take the vocal chorus. By way of a change, for the next two weekends in August, I will be featuring two female vocalists who are not heard often enough. In the meantime I hope you enjoy this early Syd Roy recording from c. 11th April 1927.
