2:00 A.M. (Trombone and Percussion Cover) from Animal Crossing (GCN) - dannymusic

Playing Next: Christ Our Hope In Life And Death by Keith and Kristyn Getty - Lyric Video

You know the saying \"nothing good ever happens after 2am?\" Well, in Animal Crossing, that saying may be right.

Aaah, 2001 Animal Crossing for the GameCube. I have so many fond memories of this game. There was always so much to do each day: exploring through town (which I named Celadon City), meeting all the quirky animals, doing them favors, collecting furniture, designing clothing, completing the museum catalogue, playing some old-school NES games (remember that feature? that was cool!), and, of course, selling my eternal soul to Tom Nook (for a paltry sum of Bells). In fact, I would often play Animal Crossing until late in the night. Very late in the night. Tooooo late in the night.

The original 2:00 AM theme in Animal Crossing is, in my opinion, the developers' way of saying \"WHY ARE YOU UP THIS LATE GO TO BED NERD?!\" It's quirky, it's bizarre, it uses some ear-destroying sax samples, but nonetheless... 2am is extremely catchy. The first time I heard this background music I was floored, and then I'd frequently stay up late specifically for the chance of listening to it again. (Of course, I could have messed with the Gamecube's internal clock, but a certain easily agitated mole made his position very clear on discouraging that endeavor.)

So with this video, I wanted highlight (both sonically and visually) the quirky nature of this theme. This uses seven trombones, but I put a very noticeable distortion effect on the three alto trombones. The video also features nearly every auxillary percussion instrument I own! Not pictured are the cajon and bongos because I couldn't get them to fit in the green screen nicely, which is unfortunate because the bongo part is pretty prominent. But I believe there's more than enough to catch your attention, including a version of three of the four tools (no axe) of the original game!
