It was difficult to find much out about Hard Corps in 1984, when I bought their first single, 'Dirty', after hearing it on John Peel's show. I assumed, along with everyone else, that they were French, based only on the singer's accent and the title of the B-side, 'Respirer'. As it turns out, although Hard Corps were fronted by Regine Fetet, the rest of the band -- Hugh Ashton, Robert Doran and Clive Pierce -- were based in Brixton. They signed to Polydor in 1986, but the label did very little to promote the band and 'Je Suis Passée' was their only release.
