When the pussywillow whispers to the catnip : the whisper song : (pst! pst! pst!) Okeh 40814 - Vaughn De Leath ends her recording with \"Thats All.\" This is from April 1927. This end phrase was made famous by Annette Hanshaw. It looks like Vaughn stole her phrase for this song. Annette first used the phrase on \"Aint She Sweet\" Jan 28, 1927, a few months earlier.
Vaughn De Leath (September 26, 1894 - May 28, 1943) was a female singer who gained popularity in the 1920s, earning the sobriquets \"The Original Radio Girl\" and \"First Lady of Radio.\" Although popular in the 1920s, De Leath is little known today. she had considerable financial difficulties, complicated by a drinking problem which contributed to her early death. Her ashes were buried in her childhood home of Mount Pulaski, Illinois. Lee De Forest invited Vaughn De Leath into his New York studio to sing in 1920. The result may well have been the first live radio singing broadcast.
