According to my friend Joe Moore, the OKeh company took some recording equipment to Asheville, North Carolina in August/September 1925, and set up in the George Vanderbilt Hotel, building an air-tight studio on the roof. To give them their full name, the “Foor Robinson Hotels Carolina Club Orchestra” was the hotel orchestra which played for dancing at the hotel, and the Okeh company decided to record them after they had finished recording all other talent they had located in the area.
I found this UK Parlophone issue in the Washwood Heath area of Birmingham in June 1972 and have never seen another copy since. That’s Birmingham, UK……… not Birmingham Alabama which is only about 400 miles from Asheville!
