Judy Cheeks - No Outsiders [Full Album, Expanded Version, Vol. 2] (1988)
Judy Cheeks was born in Miami, 1954, and was discovered by Ike & Tina Turner who also wrote and produced her 1973 debut album. She then went to Motown, singing backing vocals for the likes of Thelma Houston and also penning a song for the Jackson 5, before getting the chance to go to Europe and tour with Udo Jürgens. She then landed a deal with Ariola Records, teaming up with Amanda Lear's producer Anthony Monn, and recorded the album Please Give Me This Night which included a hit single with Mellow Lovin' which was also picked up by US label Salsoul Records and remixed by Tom Moulton.
A second album was initiated for Ariola but not completed. A scarce electro-pop album was released in Italy 1983, Hard On The Heels Of Love, produced by Donna Summer's producer Pete Bellotte but failed to generate any interest. She spent the following years doing session work (her uncredited vocals can be heard on Boney M.'s Jambo and several tracks on the 10,000 Lightyears album). In 1988, she stepped out on her own again with the album No Outsiders, released on Polydor. After a 5-year hiatus she achieved her biggest hit in 1993 with the euro-dance anthem Reach! followed by the album Respect, yielding several more singles before she disappeared off the radar for nearly 20 years. In 2013 she released the gospel album True Love Is Free, proving that her voice is still as good as ever.
I have expanded the original album by including her 1987 single You'll Never Be Alone and adding a bonus volume with extended 12\" mixes and B-sides.
