Kūlgrinda is a ritual group of authentic Baltic folklore – the main gathering of such nature in Lithuania since 1990. The second Kulgrinda album, first time on CD, perpetuates the Rite of Fire – the most important rite in the Baltic tradition. During the ritual, glorification of the sacred Fire is accompanied by ancient songs, dances and stories, which date back to the early Middle Ages. This includes sutartines – unique archaic polyphonic songs and lyrical songs accompanied by kankles (zither), violin, panpipes and drums. The Rite of Fire has been carried out at a number of European music festivals.
