Drink, Drink, Drink (Romberg-Donnelly) by Mario Lanza, orchestra and chorus conducted by Constantine Callinicos
Music originally composed for the 1924 Sigmund Romberg-Dorothy Donnelly operetta “The Student Prince.” Even though the notoriously difficult Lanza was fired from the acting cast of the 1954 film adaptation, his voice was retained for the soundtrack vocals and lip-synced on-screen by actor Edmund Purdom. This particular track was released as a single from Lanza’s wildly popular RCA Victor LP of songs from “The Student Prince,” a major best-seller that spent 142 weeks on Billboard’s pop album chart, 18 of them at #1.
