My favourite way to spend Thursday night in london is first to enjoy a couple of pints at Bar Polski in Holborn. The Polish Bar in an alleyway behind Holborn Tube Station serves a huge selection of Polish Vodka and has good value, filling Polish food like Bigos and Pierogi. It’s perfect for lining the stomach before a heavy night of drinking.
I then like to walk down to Covent Garden for Carradine’s Cokney Sing Along at Mr Foggs Tavern on St Martin’s Lane. Every Thursday Tom Carradine plays the piano whilst everybody in the bar can sing along to old music hall classics. All ages are welcome and it’s a guaranteed night of fun and entertainment. A lot of the songs are cockney classics like My Old Man Said Follow The Van but there are also medleys from musicals like Oliver and My Fair Lady. If you are not English you will probably recognise some of the other medleys like Abba or The Beatles.
Tom Carradine has a CD available on his website where you can also find out about other gigs and performances.
So, every Thursday night from 8.30 to 10.30 in London’s St Martins Lane, come and enjoy a gin or two and a nostalgic journey through Wartime classics!
