Versatile Billy Mayerl had recently opened his School of Syncopation , started a music-hall act with Gwen Farrar and also involved with a dance band. Amazingly, he even found time to compose a few songs of which this is one.
This is the reverse side of my last weekend upload. As Mayer's Vocalion dance band issues are rarely heard I thought some may like to hear \"Toodle-oo Sal\". Personally, I prefer it to \"I ain't got nobody and....\" This also has a lovely pace to it and also has the benefit of a Billy Mayerl piano solo.
With this record I also say toodle-oo to Billy Mayerl for the present.
Recorded October-November 1926.
