The massive Jazz Video Game Medley continues with a movement to celebrate some fantastic ballads and slow songs in the world of video game music! First off, there are far too many wonderful slow songs to cram into the size of a piece of music that I was going for, so I picked songs that were exceptionally meaningful to me - that really helped me arrange these songs in the best way I felt possible!
One of the things that makes video game music so great and lasting is that we experience these songs often in a strong emotional context. For example, an emotional scene may play in a game, underscored with an amazing, emotionally stirring piece of music. That piece of music is now tied with that scene for us, just like how I always envision Mario and Peach out in front of the castle when I hear the Super Mario 64 credits theme. That feeling of wonder is what I tried to capture with the themes that I put in!
Now, just because all these songs are ballads or slow songs doesn't mean they can't have high energy! Some of the peak parts of this arrangement include Dire Dire Docks, Dearly Beloved, and Aquatic Ambience, three of my all time favorite video game music standards! I hope you enjoy the medley!
