From the 1975 debut album Sweeney Todd. The band generated #1 hit with the lead single Roxy Roller. The song won a Juno award in 1976. The lead singer Nick Gilder and lead guitarist Jim Mcullogh left the band to pursue a solo career.
In 1977 the band put out a 2nd album with a new lead singer named Bryan Adams. The band never released another album.

In 2000, the band reformed under the name Nick Gilder and the Sweeney Todd Band
