So I heard Mr. Tsuko G. was challenging people to cover Break Free in a week, and it so happens this is my busiest week in ages.
If you're unfamiliar with Tsuko's work, I've known this fellow since he and my pal Parecki worked together - he's gone from an acapella kazoo artist to a full fledged formidable rocker and I even remember chatting guitar tones with him ages ago! Having finally \"broken free\" in his original song, he played off the constant struggle of doing covers to keep channels and ourselves going - I wanted to toy around with that more, but with the time constraint of literally ONE WEEK I couldn't do my absolute nuttiest. #TsukoG basically ran a contest to cover his song right as it came out, and I thought that would be the best motivation for me to do one of my crazy projects in a short amount of time for practice so.. game on!
I tried throwing sitars and more eclectic instruments, but nothing fit. I figured I had to do what came naturally, and this snappier elaborater proggy take is what resulted! I'm really proud of the guitars and instrumental, since this was a bit of a learning curve to do a more traditional rock format song - the vocals are definitely hard since I barely had time to learn the song, practice it, redo it all, pitch correct/time everything cleanly, but here we are.. OH and I had to copy the slow-motion from his.
