The beautiful 'Wild Flowers' was originally the B-side to 'Every Angel' (Mercury/Phonogram) in March 1988 and also appeared on the CD-single of 'Martha's Harbour' and other CD-single promos.
It is still commercially available for purchase online on the 1992 album 'Winter Words - Hits And Rareties' (a spelling that means you cannot miss it online!)
The click-and-pop taster here is the original vinyl sound from a record bought in October 1988 (accidentally processed by me in mono, d'oh!)
'Wild Flowers' was written and produced by All About Eve (Tim Bricheno, Andy Cousin, Mark Price, Julianne Regan).
The featured illustration from the cover of 'Every Angel' is by Bee Willey. Google her to see more fantastic artwork!
The grey of winter falls on us, how will our garden grow?
Will all the seeds we've sown survive beneath the snow?
We've been here before, wrapped in our regret...
All those winter words, I want us to forget them.
Seasons may change and they hold wild flowers
Raising their face to the sun.
All that are born from our soft rain showers
Are wild flowers.
Morning breaks and no-one wakes, no bird is here to sing
So, from the south I wish them back, to grace the spring.
They've flown south before, it's just the way they live
For when I try to fly away, can you forgive me?
