This album is dedicated to Dominique Repecaud (1955 - 2016), who was mensch enough and crazy enough to book us into a serious music festival. The soundman asked what sort of reverb Mike wanted on his voice, to which Mike replied, ?Do anything you want. Play with the reverb settings as much as you feel like it?. And the sound man complied, with increasing gusto as the show progresses (it?s a fine line between excess and genius: I am
neither qualified nor do I possess the desire to distinguish between the two). This is a tape straight off the live mixing desk, with some attempt at mastering the thing into Universal Significance. Instead of a roaring backline of Marshalls and Ampegs, we were provided
with rather small practice amps, so we could barely hear ourselves, and the output from the desk is appropriately skewed. Then again, Krackhouse is also appropriately skewed, so maybe it cancels out. Or photomultiplies. Yeah. Ordinarily there would be a LOT more
feedback, but we did our earnest best under the circumstances. Just so you know, there are 1200 unsuspecting souls in the audience, probably hoping for a fairly polite jazz band.
Somehow we won them over with our rendition of Brilliant Corners. Go figure.
