Hal Kemp was a popular jazz saxophonist, composer, and bandleader from the late 1920s to early 1940s. He and his orchestra started cutting records for Brunswick back in 1927. They would cut 38 more on Brunswick up until late 1936 when they got a record on Regal Zonophone and following that a few cuts for Victor and Vocalion until they returned to Brunswick in early 1937 after little success on there. 4 more records later they would return to Victor. Then they got a few records on His Master's Voice and Victor from 1939 to 1941. Then in 1943 they got a record on V-Disc. After this, the rest really isn't known.

He had some hits like Love For Sale in 1939, So Your The One in 1941, Walkin' In The River in 1941, Where Or When in 1937, When I`m With You in 1936, Where Or When in 1937, Got A Date With An Angel in 1934, and Gloomy Sunday in 1936.
