General Crook in the late 60's and early 70's recorded some hard soul and funk for Burgess Gardner's Down To Earth label in Chicago. The records were good and they were hits. But leave it to pghpookie to give you General's softer side. From 1974, a super sound from Wand Records which showcases a mellow/quiet storm feeling. Crook had sung with Gardner's Soul Crusaders Orchestra which performed everything from Soul to Standards, so this style was an easy step for the General. Superb Soul from another artist who deserved more listens and recognition.
