I listened to this song countless times on my Fisher-Price record player as a kid and never tired of it, or any of the rest of the Free to Be You and Me album. (I later had the honor of meeting and working with its creator, the great Marlo Thomas, on our Netflix series Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later.)
I still LOVE this song - we're sisters and brothers, we're all in this together!
Singing in harmony are:
Taran Killam
Leonora Pitts
Rachel Axler
Bobby Cannavale
along with
Lynn Shelton on tamborine and harmonies;
and more harmonies from Cobie Smulders.
On the steel bowl and clapping hands we have Lauren Bennett
Shaking her rice is Missy Yager
And popping on the accordian, Sean Garnhart
The musical backbone of this one (on piano, guitar and bass) comes from Jon Spurney, a music/filmmaking jack-of-all-trades who I first met when we both were in the band for Soundtracks Live, a staging of \"Pretty in Pink\" at the UCB theater in 2003. He always blows my mind.
With so much talent all I had to do was play the drums and put it together.
Collaborative Covers by Amateurs (and some pros) of Rock Songs - aka #CCARS, recorded from our separate home quarantines, just for fun and distraction during this challenging time.
