Choongum has become something of a cult figure in the avant-garde art scene. He is notably a central personality at the infamous Tripped Erotica parties held in New York City. His work, shaped by influences ranging from IDM to hip-hop, trance to industrial, bossa nova and pop, continues to defy classification. Every release evokes some sort of alternate reality: utopian worlds that are strikingly visual and emotive. It’s not hard to imagine that there are more than just musical influences at play.
