Out of all the songs that I know (and I am sure that you know that my knowledge on music is quite large), this is my ultimate favourite geet by the great K L Saigal Saaheb. This great geet was music directed by Pankaj Mullick who was assisted by Biren Bal and was written by Pandit Bhushan.

'My Sister' was the film that included many of K L Saigal's most famous songs. Mister K L Saigal left New Theatres during the year of 1941 after releasing the film 'Lagan' the very same year. In between that year and the releasing year of this film (1944), K L Saigal released some hit films in Bombay like 'Bhakta Surdas' in 1942 or 'Tansen' in 1943. After the releasing of 'Tansen', B N Sircar and other members of New Theatres came up with the idea of the potential film ' My Sister' and thought it would make a box - office hit but with a more stylish leading actor compared to Pankaj Mullick. As a result, they thought they required K L Saigal back and so B N Sircar wrote a letter to K L Saigal who was present in Bombay at the time, inevitably. The letter's basic meaning was to ask K L Saigal whether he would like to return for just one film. Due to K L Saigal's good character, he could not refuse those that commenced his career and so returned back at the start of 1944 to make this film and, indeed, it was a great hit: film and songs.

Pankaj Mullick did render three K L Saigal songs from this film as version songs; those songs were Aye Qaatib - E - Taqdeer, Do Naina Matvaare and Humse Chup Na. One song by K L Saigal was not re rendered by Pankaj Mullick and that song was Haaye Kis Buot Ki Mohabbat. That song was on the opposite side of the 78RPM record for Aye Qaatib - E - Taqdeer.

Regardless of all this information, I hope you enjoy this ghazal as much as I do.
